When you produce charcoal in you simple kiln...
...why not use the heat from the the pyrolysis gas burning to cook food?
All you need extra is a trellis to put on the stove.
You can take the one from the barbecue set, since you are not using it anymore.
The easiest you an cook at your retort-stove is a wok.
Use the incredients that currently are growing in your garden.
(In this case, I cheated and went to the local greengrocer for a lot of he stuff. In th end of May, there is not very much food in the garden)
First, cut up the ingedients in pieces tha are not thicker that 4-5 mm, and order them in three classes:
Long,
medium
and
fast fried.
Take your stuff into the garden, where your retort-stove is already on fire.
First, pour on the wok sauce.
I make the sauce of oil (olive or rapeseed), dark (Chineese) soy, some balsamic vinegar, salt, chili, ginger, and some rosemary oil (it's for remembrance).
It starts boiling almost immediately. The pyrolysis fire is hot.
First, I add the meat and vegetables that need some cooking time,
as carrots, red beets, potatoes, parsnips and the green tips from the leek.
Stir it in and put on the lid for a few minutes.
Next, stir in the vegetbles that nees an intermedate cooking time, as the white from the leek, spring onion, caulilower and spring sprouts (from the garden).
Same procedure: stir it in and put on the lid for a few minutes.
Last, put in the tender vegetables that only need to be warmed up, as mushrooms and tomatoes. After you have stirred them in, the wok is ready to serve.
Cabon dioxide negative food can be really delicious!
It appeals both to the palate and the conscience!
Naturally, you can use the stove to cook fresh potatoes with salt and dill,
to eat with
Matjes herring, newly picked chopped chives and sour cream!
