This article describes the development of our current cheap-energy-dependent society, its prospects and possible ways to alleveate the problems by integration of settlements and agriculture. A comparison of the results of the 'full scale experiment' of oil depletion in Cuba and North Korea with statistics on demographics and an analysis of the different outcomes are given.
