If the subsystem has a neutral impact
(it neither does any good to the system, nor does it any harm -- it is invisible)
on the production of services from the supersystem, this will put it in a dangerous situation.
It can easily be disposed of without any harm for anybody but the cell itself.

It is a dangerous survival strategy.
