north atlantic deep water formation

the loss of the gulf stream

På svenska

It is the Gulf Stream that makes north Europe much warmer than New Foundland or Siberia

During its way north, water evaporates and the Gulf stream becomes saltier

When it is salty enough, NADW forms by the sinking of the salt water

The formation of NADW is the motor of the Gulf stream

No NADW, no Gulf stream

If a lot of fresh water flows into the north Atlantic and Barendt's Sea, the NADW will not form

The conveyor belt of warm water will be lost

This change might not progress slowly, but be abrupt
