Green manuring

August 9
Raking down the seeds Sowing green manure

Some days.later, we made a first green manuring by sowing a mixture of black oat, rye and peas.
Jan helped us by motor tilling the rather hard and dry clay. Afterwards, we gave it a thorough watering.

Negotiations

August 4
Negotioations with the previous owner

Through the chairman of the allotment society, we got the name of the owner of the plot. As we had understood, he had got an illness that restricted his capability to mend the plot. He had used it for 35 years, and had recetly decided to retire from the work, before the garden started to disintegrate.
We met at the plot, and made an agreement that he would make the harvest of the fruits and berries, and that we were free to start the autumnal work.
We took contact with the Svedala minicipality authorities, which accepted us as the new users and sent us a contract, valid from September 1.

The find

June 26
The Holma 35 plot in June 2004

During 2004, we helped our daughter Mya and her boyfriend Jan with their allotment in Svedala, 30 km South of Lund.
It was fun, and we had some thoughts of finding a plot of our own.
At our visits, we saw a wouderful plot that seemed somewhat desolated, altough wery lushy. There grew a row of nine apple- and peartrees, a large plum tree, and almost two dozen of red currant and gooseberry bushes. On the land, there were almost no weeds.
But the trees seemed somewhat unattended, and almost nothing grew on the land, although it was in midsummer. It looked like it had beed attended wery well by a person that has become tired or sick.
We decided to look into it.
